GCAP PIVOT

Think about career possibilities, direction, and where to apply

Explore possibilities. Choose your next direction.

How could your experience create value in a different company or role? Work with experts in business and hiring to explore directions you might not discover on your own.

Discuss your next career step

Start with what is on your mind, even if you have not chosen an employer or decided whether to move.

A BROADER VIEW OF YOUR FUTURE

Look beyond the companies you already know.

You may want to join an international company, find your next opportunity to grow or understand where else your expertise could be valuable. PIVOT is an individual programme that explores these questions through your experience, strengths and the realities of different roles.

Drawing on knowledge of both employers and professionals, GCI suggests companies and roles you may not have considered. Exploring, comparing and testing these options helps you make your own informed choice.

YOUR CAREER MAP

Discover the work your experience could lead to.

These are examples of conversations that expand your career possibilities. We look beyond a description of your experience to examine what you did and why it felt rewarding. From there, we identify possible strengths and explore how they could apply in other roles.

Please select an example of dialogue that interests you.

The questions, answers, and exploration tasks will change depending on the experience you choose.

Selected dialogue example:Solving customers' business issues

01 / Explore the evidence behind your experience

What were your responsibilities and what did you find rewarding?

Coach / first question
Please tell us about any experiences you have had in your work that have been particularly rewarding.
Participant / Example response about experience
I clarified what the customer wanted to achieve with the system, aligned the user and technical teams, and supported its use after implementation.
Now let's dig into the experience.
Coach / Further questions
Which stage felt most rewarding: proposing the solution, implementing it or helping the customer use it? What did you personally change at that stage?
Participant / What you did and what you want next
Helping the customer put it into use after implementation. The user and technical teams had different expectations, so I clarified the work they wanted to accomplish and each person’s role. In my next role, I want to stay involved until the customer achieves results, rather than stopping at the sale.
02 / Identify possible strengths through dialogue

Which strengths could you apply in other roles?

This suggests strengths in understanding customer objectives, connecting people with different expertise and helping them put a solution into use. Together with your interest in customer outcomes, these strengths point towards roles with responsibility beyond implementation.

This helps you develop new options into choices you can assess for yourself.

CHOOSE WITH YOUR OWN CRITERIA

Turn an appealing role into a choice that fits you.

More options do not necessarily make a decision easier if you are unsure what matters to you. Select the criteria you want to explore and consider the questions that could help with your next decision.

Select the criteria you want to explore
Questions to compare with a potential role

What you find rewarding at work

Whose situation would you like to improve, and in what way? How much responsibility would the role give you for those results?

Capabilities you want to develop

What skill do you want to acquire next? We look beyond just the appealing words in the job offer to make sure the role is one where you can actually gain experience.

Don't make a decision based on your wishes alone; compare it with the facts of the job, the responsibilities required, and the conditions.

YOUR EXPLORATION / 8 SESSIONS
